Wetlands & Streams

Our full-service wetland and stream services include delineation of Jurisdictional Waters and Isolated Wetlands, assessments using Ohio Rapid Assessment Methodology (ORAM), wetland permitting, mitigation site selection and design services, wetland and stream mitigation monitoring, and wetland restoration.  We are also skilled in Ohio EPA’s Vegetation Index of Biotic Integrity (VIBI) , Qualitative Habitat Evaluation Index (QHEI), Headwater Habitat Evaluation Index (HHEI), and Primary Headwater Habitat biological assessment studies.  Our HHEI study capabilities include the Headwater Macroinvertebrate Field Evaluation Index (HMFEI) and related biological sampling of fish and salamander populations, which may be necessary to properly characterize the headwater class in situations where habitat-only evaluations prove insufficient.  We offer a wide array of services relating to wetlands and streams, including:

  • Determination and delineation of Jurisdictional Waters and Isolated Wetlands
  • Wetland assessment using Ohio Rapid Assessment Methodology, VIBI, and other appropriate evaluation tools
  • Wetland permitting
  • Mitigation site selection and design services
  • Wetland and stream mitigation monitoring
  • Wetland restoration

It is our goal to educate citizens regarding the importance of these ecosystems to our collective quality of life.

A prime example of these efforts is the annual “Westerville Wetlands Workshop,” jointly sponsored by MAD Scientist Associates and the City of Westerville Parks and Recreation Department. This program is held in May, national wetlands month,  each year. Our next workshop and other educational and volunteer opportunities will be posted on our Events Calendar.
